Why luxury vinyl flooring is great for Welland homes
If you haven’t seen vinyl flooring in a while, you are in for one big, happy surprise; there’s a good reason why it’s such an in-demand product. Luxury vinyl flooring(LVF) is considered an affordable premium product with everything from sophisticated high-end design to waterproof capabilities, durability, and more. It’s versatile for any room, from the kitchen and bath to the living area and bedroom.
What is luxury vinyl flooring?
This is a true-to-life echo of wood, stone, or tile, so realistic that sometimes even experts have difficulty telling the difference between that and the real thing. Thanks to modern technology, like 3D photography, images are clear and accurate, with knots, grains, swirls, and veinings in full display. The floor has a three-dimensional quality because it’s micro-beveled with embossing to give it depth and dimension.
Wood is a big trend, as are textures, marble, granite. Patterns are vibrant, bold, and include everything from herringbones and chevrons to geometrics. LVF follows every trend, so the only limits are yours. Since the material is cut into long planks or square, groutable, tile-sized pieces, it is sometimes referred to as vinyl plank flooring or LVT flooring.
Breaking down the benefits
Aside from the aesthetics and affordability, you’re given the gift of time because LVF is such low maintenance. Sweep daily and mop with a manufacturer-approved cleaner weekly. Be sure to avoid wax, shine promoting cleaners; they’ll damage the urethane finish and dull the floor. If you feel you need more shine, seek the advice of flooring experts. You also get:
Durability. The multi-layered product has a top, clear, strong wear layer that protects against scratches and stains. It’s impossible to wear down the image, and they also help with the waterproofing, keeping spills sitting at the top. Wear layers should measure at least 20-mil. As for the vinyl itself, thicker is always better. Thicker means better sound (no squeaks), more intricate design carvings, and enhanced ability to hide subfloor imperfections. It should be no less than 8-or 9-mm, but you may want to go as high as 10-mm or 12-mm if you want a high quality, authentic hard surface feeling underfoot.
Fast and uncomplicated Installation. This can be a floating floor, where pieces click together to mat and hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue. Subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level. Sometimes installers will sand subfloors so imperfections don’t show on the surface.
